Summer 2 Newsletter

Head teacher's Messages
Dear Families,
We hope you enjoyed a wonderful half term with your families.
It’s hard to believe we’ve reached the final half term of the year—and, as always, it’s a busy one! We've packed this newsletter with key dates and details to help you plan.
The staff were busy over half term and on Monday writing your child’s report – these will be shared with you in July.
Assessments – during this final half term we will be making final assessments of your child’s attainment and progress this year. It is important to have good attendance so we can do this accurately.
Children in Year 1 will take the Phonics check next week and those in Year 4 will be completing the Times table Check – these are national assessments and have set dates so please make sure your child is in school to be able to complete them.
Recent and Upcoming Events
Careers Day- Friday 6th June
Wow – what a day! A huge thank you to all the volunteers who generously gave their time to come in and talk about their roles.
I was lucky enough to attend the morning session and, in just a short time, heard from doctors, police officers, lawyers, DJs, vets, accountants, talent agents – and more! It was inspiring to see the children so engaged and full of curious questions.
A big well done to Mrs Wallace (Year 5) for coordinating this fantastic event. We know it will leave a lasting impact and open up new ideas about what’s possible. Careers Day ties perfectly into our Pinner Wood value: Dream Big.
(Note: We’re aware this fell on Eid, so some children missed out. It was planned last September before the Eid date was confirmed – but rest assured, it’s now set to become an annual event so all can take part in future.)
We will sort the photos and post these soon so please keep a look out.
Pinner Woodstock – Friday 13th June
Our music festival returns! Please see the poster from Mrs Stevenson for full details. Families are warmly invited to watch the performances. This year, each act will have a designated time slot, and we’ll do our best to stay on schedule. Tickets will be available on the door—no need to pre-order.
STEAM WEEK (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Maths) Monday 16th – Friday 20th June. Theme: Change and Adapt
Miss Sheldrake has once again planned a week of exciting week of activities for all children- more details to follow. Make sure you have handed in any STEAM projects for the competition.
Sports Day – Tuesday 17th June
All information is on the poster below. Families are welcome to join us and stay for a picnic lunch. You may also collect your child early—please let us know in advance so we can arrange this properly. Please see the form sent out on Thursday 5th June regarding lunches and collection.
Class Photos – Thursday 26th June
Please make sure your child in in school to be involved. School Uniform for everyone on this day- no PE Kits
PW FunFest – Saturday 5th July
We’re planning a fantastic summer FunFest—but we need your support! We're meeting this Friday, 6th June at 9am, and would love a volunteer from each class to coordinate a small stall. Without enough help, we may have to cancel—let’s make it happen together!
We would appreciate all volunteers - sign up here to help!
Music Concert – Tuesday 15th July
For all children who learn an instrument in school. Families welcome to attend.
Dream Big Open Evening – Monday 14th July (3.45–5.15pm)
Come celebrate your children’s work and achievements. Families are warmly invited
Eid
Eid Mubarak to all our families celebrating today – we hope you’ve had a blessed and joyful day.
Kind Regards,
Sarah Marriott
Dear Pinner Wood Families,
This week, is National Pride Week—an important time to recognise and honour the diverse identities within our school community, especially those in the LGBTQ+ community.
At Pinner Wood, respect, kindness, and inclusion are central to our values. Through our BEE You initiative, we encourage every child to embrace who they are. Pride Week reminds us of the importance of celebrating diversity and building understanding.
We invite you to continue these conversations at home, helping children grow in empathy and respect for all.
Thank you for your support in making Pinner Wood a safe, welcoming place for everyone.
Warm regards,
Nathan Mainwaring

Stepping Up - Staffing News
As we approach the end of term, we’ll be saying a fond farewell to Miss Andrea Ljungberg (Year 4), who is off to new adventures overseas. Andrea began her journey with us as a graduate teaching assistant in Early Years and went on to train as a teacher here. She has always set the highest standards and held big aspirations for every child in her class. She will be greatly missed, and we wish her all the very best.
Mrs Imeri will also be starting her maternity leave later this month. Details about her cover will be shared with her class shortly.
Looking ahead, we’re excited to welcome some brilliant new teachers to our team in September. We had 30 strong applicants for a class teacher post—almost unheard of in the current climate—which just shows that Pinner Wood is the place to be! I’ll introduce the new teachers properly later this term.
We hope to share next year’s teacher allocations with you in the coming weeks to help ensure a smooth transition.

Lost Property | Our lost property box is located on the Year 5/6 playground—feel free to check for any missing items. Unclaimed and unnamed items are cleared at the end of each half term. Please label all belongings clearly! |

Birthday at Pinner Wood | We love celebrating birthdays in class and with our termly Birthday Bunch! Please remember we cannot allow edible treats due to allergies and our healthy school policy. Non-edible treats (like pencils or books) are welcome, but not expected. |
Uniform Reminders | Please ensure your child wears their PE kit on PE days. On non PE days they should be wearing uniform. As it gets warmer, they are welcome to wear shorts, but these should be black. |
School Shoes | Children should wear full uniform on non-PE days, including school shoes (not trainers). On PE days, please ensure they come in their PE kit. As the weather warms up, black shorts are permitted. |

A Message from our Head Squad

Bonnie Bird - Good News Corner
A Huge Thank You!
A big thank you to Paul, May, and Caroline from AMS, who generously gave their time to volunteer at Pinner Wood this week as part of their company’s Global Day of Giving initiative.
This inspiring programme encourages employees to support local and global causes, including education and poverty alleviation.
The team worked incredibly hard on projects we rarely get time to tackle—especially in our Forest School—creating spaces that will benefit our children for years to come.
Paul Modley (Managing Director at AMS) shared: “We loved helping the school today. Thanks to all the staff who made us feel so welcome—we felt such a positive buzz throughout the day. It was good to do something different from the day job.”
We’re truly grateful for their efforts. If you or your organisation are involved in similar initiatives, we’d love to hear from you!

We had a visit from author Luke Temple earlier in the year and he now has a new book out!
To purchase please use this link!
"It is now 10 years since those books were released. To celebrate 10 years of Felix Dashwood, I have written a new short story: Felix Dashwood and the Mutating Island!
The new story is being released as part of a limited-edition book. This contains all 3 original stories, plus the new story, in 1 action-packed volume. It's the only way to read the new story. The book also has a 'glowing eyes' cover, which is very cool!
The limited-edition book will only be available through my school visits. However, I want to give children who have already met me at their school the chance to get it."
