End of Year Round Up 2026
Message from the Head Teacher
My Farewell to Pinner Wood
Today, as I say goodbye to Pinner Wood after fourteen remarkable years, I find myself reflecting on the extraordinary journey we have shared.
I arrived as Deputy Headteacher, teaching English in Year 6 and learning what made this school so special. Little did I know then that one day I would become Headteacher, or that during my maternity leave the school would quite literally find itself in a sinkhole!
My first year as Headteacher was spent helping tiny four-year-olds onto coaches bound for the Civic Centre while wondering whether we would ever rebuild our school. Thankfully, after nine long months away, we finally came home and celebrated in true Pinner Wood style.
Since then, we have shared so many memorable moments together. Our 80th birthday celebrations, welcoming Michael Rosen, navigating Covid and online learning, creating the six values that continue to sit at the heart of our school, and developing our Oracy work with Voice 21. Together, we grew, adapted and discovered new ways to connect and learn.
Then, in 2023, after an eleven-year wait, Ofsted came calling. It was our moment, and what a moment it was. The inspectors recognised the passion, commitment and talent of our incredible staff team, the happiness and achievements of our children, and everything that makes Pinner Wood so special. Achieving Outstanding in every area was a proud day for us all.
Most recently came the Acorn Centre. Seeing our children with additional needs thrive in a space designed especially for them has been one of my greatest joys.
When I look back, it is the people who stand out most.
To the incredible leaders, past and present, thank you for your positivity, wisdom and drive.
To our exceptional staff team, teachers and support staff alike, you are quite simply the 'A Team.' Your dedication, care and expertise make Pinner Wood the special place it is.
To our wonderful office team, thank you for keeping the ship running in ways that often go unseen.
To all our families, thank you for your trust, encouragement and unwavering support. Thank you for allowing me to be part of your family's story and for entrusting us with what matters most, your children.
And mostly, to the children. Thank you for the laughter, curiosity, energy and joy you have brought to every day. Thank you for sharing your learning, adventures, performances and those magical moments- this is what drives us and makes this truly the best job in the world.
It has been an honour and a privilege to be part of Pinner Wood. I will miss you all enormously, but I leave with a heart full of gratitude, pride and wonderful memories. Good luck to our Year 6s who leave today. It was lovely to be in your assembly and share your special moments. You have been brillaint and we know you will go far!
Thank you so much for your kind words, cards and very generous gifts- I am truly very touched.. Thank you to those that came to the wonderful celebration on Wednesday - it was so special and I am sorry if I did not get chance to speak to everyone.
Pinner Wood will always hold a very special place in my heart and I leave today with so many happy memories.
With my warmest wishes for the future and sincere thanks,
Miss Marriott ❤️
Value of the Half Term - Dream Big
This half term, our value has been Dream Big, and what a fantastic way we have lived that value across the school community.
Through a sequence of assemblies, children explored the stories of important figures who dared to dream big and make a difference in the world. These ideas were then developed further through our weekly oracy assemblies, where pupils reflected, discussed and shared their own ambitions and aspirations.
Dreaming big has not been limited to the classroom. Our children have had countless opportunities to shine through events such as the Dream Big Open Evening, where families celebrated learning and achievements from across the school. We were also treated to wonderful performances through Pinner Wood Woodstock, our Music Recital, the street dance showcase and the outstanding Year 6 production of Oliver Twist, which showcased tremendous talent, confidence and teamwork.
Sport has continued to play a significant role in school life, with pupils representing Pinner Wood brilliantly at Borough Sports, gymnastics and our much-loved Sports Day. Children demonstrated determination, resilience and sportsmanship throughout.
Our older pupils embraced new challenges on their residential visits, with Year 5 enjoying their Thriftwood adventure and Year 6 creating lifelong memories during their Isle of Wight residential. These experiences encouraged independence, confidence and provided the children with lots of fun.
We would also like to thank the many parents and professionals who supported our Careers Day, giving their time to inspire children about the exciting opportunities that lie ahead. Alongside this, we celebrated Windrush Day, recognising the contributions and legacy of the Windrush Generation within our community and beyond.
Finally, our transition mornings provided children with the chance to meet new teachers, visit new classrooms and begin looking ahead with excitement to the next stage of their Pinner Wood journey.
As we reflect on a truly memorable half term, we are incredibly proud of all that our children have achieved. Whether performing on a stage, competing in sport, speaking with confidence, exploring new places or taking on new challenges, they have shown us what it means to Dream Big. Thank you to our families, staff and wider community for helping make so many of these opportunities possible.
Goodbye and Good Luck
Goodbye and good luck to Kate Randall (Year 2 TA) who has got a job working in a specialist school for Deaf children. We wish her the best of luck as she embarks on her new role and thank her for all her hard work at Pinner Wood.
A Special Thank You
We would like to say a huge thank you to one of our Year 6 families for their very generous donation of £500 to Pinner Wood School, "to enhance the experience of other pupils."
Every contribution, whether through time, support or donations, is greatly appreciated and helps make a difference to our school community.
Thank you again to this family for their kindness and generosity. We wish them all the very best for the future.

It is great to see attendance improving this term but sad to see it is not as high as previous years. This is mainly due to families taking term time holidays. Please remember we are not able to authorise any holidays in term time. Leave in exceptional circumstances must be applied for in advance.
Please check your child’s attendance on your Arbor App and let us know of any unaccounted attendance by contacting attendance@pinnerwood.co.uk

A Message from the Chair of Governors
Dear all,
As another academic year draws to a close the Governing Board would like to take this opportunity to thank every single member of staff for your dedication, professionalism and unwavering commitment to the children and families of Pinner Wood School.
This has been a year like no other for our school community. Alongside the usual demands of school life you have navigated a period of significant change and uncertainty with extraordinary grace and professionalism. We do not take that for granted and we want you to know how deeply grateful we are for everything you have given this year.
There is so much to celebrate. Your continued commitment to oracy remains one of the things that makes Pinner Wood truly distinctive and we are so proud of the difference it is making to our children’s confidence, communication and love of learning. The phonics results this year are also a testament to the hard work, skill and dedication of so many of you and we could not be more proud.
This year also marks the end of an era for Pinner Wood. After many years of extraordinary leadership Sarah Marriott will be leaving us at the end of this term. The school she has built, the culture she has created at Pinner Wood is her legacy and it will endure. On behalf of the whole governing board we thank her from the bottom of our hearts.
We are also very excited that David Bower will be joining us in September as our new Headteacher. As you all know David is an experienced, values driven leader and we know he will build on the wonderful foundations that have been laid here. He is very much looking forward to getting to know you all and we are confident that the transition will be smooth, well supported and the beginning of another exciting chapter for Pinner Wood.
As governors we look forward to continuing to work alongside you in the year ahead. If you ever see us around the school please do come and say hello as we always love hearing about the wonderful things happening in your classrooms and across the school.
We wish you all a very well deserved, restful and joyful summer break. You have given so much this year and you deserve every moment of it.
On behalf of the whole Governing Board, thank you and have a wonderful summer.
PS We hope those of you following the World Cup are enjoying the football and for those who are not, we hope the sunshine more than makes up for it!
With kind regards,
Tuli Palit
